A MAN is in a "serious" condition in hospital today after he was shot by specialist armed police, cops said today.
The 43-year-old was taken to a London hospital after shots were fired by officers from the Met Police's specialist firearms unit CO19.
Police were called to Holloway, north London, at around 9.30am following reports of gunshots.
Officers from CO19 fired at the man after arriving at the scene.
He was taken to a north London hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.
A Met spokesman said: "A white male in his 40s has been taken to a North London Hospital suffering from gunshot injuries.
"His condition is assessed as being serious but stable."
Police recovered a firearm at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police Service Directorate of Professional Standards and the Independent Police Complaints Commission have been informed of the shooting.
